Middle Position

  1. Which hands can you play from middle position ?

In an unraised pot you can play poker all hands in Groups 1-5 when the game is typical or tough. In a loose, passive game it is alright to play Group 6 as well.

Throw away weaker hands like K J and T 8.

  1. What if you are not first in ?

Consider the strength of your opponent. That is, be more inclined to play the marginal hands only against poorer players.

Hands like 2 2 or the 8 7 may become playable if the poker game conditions are right.

When your raise is likely to:

    1. Knock out most of the players behind you.
    2. Keep the pot playing short-handed.
    3. And no strong player has voluntarily entered the pot.
    4. What else would you like ?

Consider folding.

  1. If the pot already has been raised, what hands should you reraise with ?

AAA, KK, QQ, aKs, and AK, and occasionally other good hands such as T 9 and 8 8.
